Deanne Cheuk is an artist and designer, her work is influenced by art nouveau,
psychedelia, nature, movement, beauty and is often imbued with touches of
surrealism. Cheuk’s work is many layered and laborious, she believes that we are
the sum of all of our experiences and that we are all connected, she tries to impart
some of this knowledge into each of her works.
Cheuk was born in the most isolated city in the world, Perth, in Western Australia
in 1974. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Curtin
University at the age of 19 and the same year she got her first design job as the
Art Director for one of only two magazines that were produced in Perth.
In 2000, Cheuk relocated to New York and taught herself to be an illustrator and
commercial commissions soon followed. Cheuk’s first solo show was in 2004, the
same year that she released her monograph ‘Mushroom Girls Virus’.
Cheuk’s art has been exhibited around the world, most recently in Beijing, Berlin,
Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, Sydney and New York.
