Masayo Kishi is a cultivating fashion director whose efforts are focused around
developing a unique style rooted by influences found in her youth at her small
native Japanese hometown. Her work has pushed beyond traditional styling,
selection and collage - considering the body and various non-conventional
enclosures as sculptural form. Kishi combines elements of everyday life with stark
surfaces of inorganic material. Often referred to as a new modern avant-gardist,
Masayo has directed film and photography. Notable commissions to date: Karen
O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Starbucks, Puma, Hagen Daz and a collaboration with
Noritoshi Hirakawa for Deitch Projects.
